Common questions
What do the colours mean?
Each value comes from the weather services that cover your place. The colours tell you how far they agree.
The numbers carry a coloured dot.
- Green: the sources agree.
- Yellow: the sources disagree, or only one covers this value. The number is less certain: allow some margin.
Tap a number to open its details. Under "View sources", each source is green when it agrees with the number shown.
In the app, Settings, then How Confidence Works, explains the same colours.
Where does the weather come from?
National weather services where they cover you (such as Environment and Climate Change Canada, the US National Weather Service, Météo-France and AEMET), nearby airport weather stations, and forecast models that cover the whole world. Some regions are covered by fewer weather services. When only one source covers a value, it shows in yellow.
Every source is credited by name, with its licence, on the Data Sources & Attribution screen, in Settings. BetterWeather is independent and is not endorsed by these services.
How does the subscription work?
BetterWeather needs an active subscription or free trial to show the weather. The subscription, Full access to BetterWeather, has two plans:
- Yearly, with a 14-day free trial
- Monthly, with a 7-day free trial
The App Store shows the price of each plan in your currency. Free trials are for new subscribers.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. With a free trial, nothing is charged until the trial ends.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Manage or cancel it any time in your Apple Account settings. While you are subscribed, Settings, then Manage Subscription, opens the same place from the app.
A free trial becomes a paid subscription, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Your subscription renews automatically at the same price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and the renewal is charged within those 24 hours.
I already subscribed. How do I get it back on another device?
On the subscription screen, tap Restore Purchase. Use the same Apple Account you subscribed with.
Why does the app ask for my location?
BetterWeather uses your location only to show the weather where you are. You can say no and search for a city instead, in Locations. Your saved places and settings stay on your device.
Which languages does the app use?
English and French, following your device language. On a device set to any other language, the app is in English.
